Hi. I’m Alvaro and I like making stuff.
Since 2021, I’ve worked as the Hardware Engineering Lead and Director at Aspinity, a semiconductor startup in the all-analog, ultra-low power, ML space. In this role, I direct all PCB design efforts for our client-facing development and evaluation platforms as well as for our internal production IC test system. In addition to PCB design, other responsibilities include system design, hardware architecture, prototyping, mechanical design/CAD, product design, firmware, and testing (among other things!).
Before that, I worked as an electrical engineer at Deeplocal, a world-class creative technology and experiential advertising firm. There, I designed electronics for crazy interactive exhibits for some of the world’s most recognizable brands.
I have a BS in Electrical Engineering as well as a BA in Fine Art, both of which I earned at the University of New Orleans. As an EE student I gained experience in everything from robotics to image processing on FPGAs; as an art student, I explored the intersection between high- and low-tech mediums, using both to create kinetic sculpture, weird Flash games, fun animation and other conceptual art.
In my free time I tinker with electronics, play with 3D printers, draw stuff, lift weights and collect vinyl.
