AML100 Automotive IOT Gateway v2.0 (2025)

Background

I designed all the electronics for Aspinity’s v2.0 Gateway (for the company’s IoT Enablement platform). The version 2.0 board consists of a physical shrink from the v1.0 board and also swaps out the SiLabs SIWx917 MCU for an even lower power Silabs EFR32BG24 MCU. Additionally the LTE Modem was moved off-board to a separate daughter card which allows for the use of multiple, different region-appropriate LTE modems (i.e. with the v1.0 we were locked into one LTE modem footprint, whereas with the v2.0, if a particular modem isn’t supported in a region, we can simply design a new LTE board). Like the v1.0, the board employs a microphone and vibration sensor for glassbreak and impact/collision detection as well as a speaker for alerts. Also like the v1.0, the board serves as a Gateway between a system of sensor tags and the cloud (where alerts are sent to a mobile phone app)

I also designed the board enclosure and mounting system, developed test firmware and did all the product/industrial design.
